Ah, pity in her anguish the muse whose artist finds wonder in matters topological! For those who might actually be interested, the figures are variants on the Klein bottle. Shown in the upper left, this is an object with one single continuous surface, and thus no inside. The bottom variant does in fact have an inside as well as an outside, with the ironic 'twist' being that part of the 'outside' is actually buried 'inside'. The one in the middle is kind of amusing. Like the bottom bottle, it has two sides, but neither be considered to be 'inside' or 'outside' the other. You'll have to ask a real topologist to explain it all. I'm going back to my Moebius strips...
