Sketch for Tuesday, 20 February, 2001

Sixteen years.

Has it really been that long?

To say a lot has changed... could be the understatement of two decades.

You know what's really funny, is, the last time this page updated was 9 September, 2001. Two days shy of That Day. Not that that had anything to do with this page. That was just the day I finally noticed the crontab script was still updating this page, nearly seven months after I'd stopped putting up new sketches, and got around to turning it off. Then I said something about fixing the broken image element, and left things at that.

Better late than never, I guess.

So, here we are. At least, here I am. After all this time, I dare not even GUESS where you are. If anyone else is still dropping by here on rare occasion, well... thanks for your dedication! I'd invite you to email me, but the link below won't be much help right now. It'll let you send a message, all right. I just can't seem to get to my email right now.

Where things go from here, I don't know right now. I wouldn't mind getting things moving again, but life being what it is, I don't really know when that might happen. In fact, the only reason I'm updating this page is because a recent migration by my provider broke the old CGI script for the archive navigator, and no links were being generated. Fixing that finally prompted a long overdue rewrite in PHP, which in turn required me to update the link here. Do feel free to click through! If you liked the old system, you just might like the (few) improvements. And, if I DO manage to fix a few more things around here, I'll be sure to tell you all, right here!

See y'all again soon!

Minor Update, 21 March

Starting a little more work on cleanup, here. You shouldn't see much difference, yet, but I've just switched this page from straight HTML to PHP, which lets me drop in that joke of a site map up there. That's one of the things I've wanted to do since FOREVER, but kept holding back because I could never quite get 'round to ditching the old CGI scripts. Now that's finally happening, I can actually start to feel like I'm accomplishing something again.

Next up is the oldsketch.cgi module I'm using for all the image links below. That's actually WORSE than the main archive navigator, probably for the same reason that broke: a different system date command. It's also got its own map/navigator, whose links are all broken. Another little fix-it job, but I don't think it'll be too much trouble. After that, I might see about some sort of blogging app, so I can do these updates without constantly editing THIS file. Hey, we're ALMOST up to the twenty-first century!

Almost...
